Great news on the kid's CD, "Songs For Little Hands"! The kit, "Sign, Sing and Play", just sold out of it's first pressing. That's 15,990 copies! Thank you to everyone who purchased a kit, and to all the mommies and daddies who bring their kids to my LIVE music groups. You've made this the most rewarding turn of events in my life. A second pressing will be available in April, and I do have a few left if anyone needs one immediately. Just email me!

On the acting front, I'll be playing Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" in early April. It's the Marin County premiere of the Broadway/Disney production. Check out the calendar for dates. And in May and June I'll be Sheila in HAIR, this year's Mountain Play. Please come and see the shows, support the arts, and expose yourself and your kids to live theater.

For anyone who has been keeping track, I haven't played out with my band, Susan Z, for a long, LONG time. But have no fear, (not that you would anyway), I'll be hitting the stage in June with a new line up of players. Did any of you catch the Wine, Women & Song gig last September? The house band, comprised of Jude Gold and Paul Geller on guitar, Wes Anderson on drums, Justus Dobrin on keys, John Escalera and Jamison Smeltz on trumpet and sax, have agreed to join me again at a benefit concert for Beyond Hunger, in San Rafael. I'm honored and thrilled to have this amazing line up with me.

So, what happened to my "band"? Well, my cohort, Dan Meblin (guitar), has been playing steadily with The Cheeseballs for the past few years. It's a great gig, they work all the time, and Dan gets to be a rock star every weekend. Taylor (bass) has been doing session work all over the world... REALLY! And he still comes back to little ol' Marin to do some gigs now and then. My drummer... um, let's see... well, most recently I played with Denise Wright, who I hope will join me in the future for more sessions and gigs. She is now a mommy of TWINS and manages her husband's career, Eric Martin. Denise! Call me when you get a minute! HA!

Speaking of families, Ruby just turned 4 and Rachel will be 2 in June. Motherhood IS the hardest job ever, and I love it more than any job I've ever done. Mike is a real hands on dad and a tremendous help to me. I don't talk about him much, but he is that "rock" that people are always talking about. He's the guy on the "list"... the one I made when I was thinking about meeting someone of husband material. Side note... Thank you, Eric Martin, for re-introducing us.

The Mountain In Me was in an award winning video. Stacy Poulos the director and producer of a video about CARH ..A program to help the disabled and handicapped has won a 2008 Tully Award. Congratulations Stacy and the whole Carh family and to me kym jessing...because she chose The Mountain In Me to help make the video more meaningful.

Meanwhile, I am trying to get my new song In The Heart Of America to the democratic convention. I have already given a copy to Nancy Pelosis office and variou people at the 2008 Democratic convention in Denver in August. Wish me luck!

finally back in the studio...recording 'Heart of America' with Jimi Fischer producing....we did 3 songs together on my last album..he is such a talented and visionary producer and musician....it feels so good to be there again

feels a little like Spring lately...nice. I am going back into the studio this month to record a new song called 'In The Heart of America' and another piece which is sort of a commentary on religion and how it tears us apart as opposed to bringing  us back together. It will eventually be a video as well. My first album 'We All Need Love' was my long introspection in to love and what it is..and I have to say it is still a subject that baffles and intrigues me.

Now, I find myself very interested in writing songs that have some social impact..I never thought I would write a political song or a song about religion...stay tuned..
